Oh my, this is very good news.

Unless you've had Sapporo, Asahi, Kirin, and outrageously priced Guinness that tastes like dirty dishwater as your only immediate beer options for months, you may not understand my joy.

I had a Japanese microbrewed beer a few years ago at Namjatown's Gyoza Stadium. Definitely good stuff. A Japanese instructor in college said that the Japanese aren't very good at inventing things, but they are masters at taking things invented by others and making them better. I guess we'll see!

Wow--this is great! Thanks for finding this! Next time we go over to Nihon, we'll do some taste-testing!

Guinness really doesn't travel well. Even within the island of Ireland.

Basically, the closer you get to Dublin, the better it tastes, until you reach the bar at the Storehouse itself, where it tastes like heaven.

I'd always heard that and chalked it up to urban myth. Good to hear the legend is true! It definitely explains the horror of drinking a Guinness in Japan.

I always think Guinness at McNally's Irish Pub in Oakland tastes like heaven -- they do something right that other bars just don't get. But it must just taste like the gates, or a near-death experience.
