Who doesn't love hearing about busybody fascists?
Please. Divisive of a subdivision? A sign of Satan? How about petty hacks power-tripping on contrived leadership, religious zealots, war-mongers, and people afraid of speaking up -- all with more time than brains -- as a sign of evil or divisiveness? Oh my god, help the disadvantaged or lead a prayer group or something, sheesh.
This story is preposterous, yes, and would be amusing even, if it wasn't so chilling and a possible omen of the future of a nation living in fear (2084, anyone?). Call me paranoid, but this is how everything starts, small and seemingly innocent.
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Thanks to Wil for the story.
BTW, even in the land of bleeding heart liberal commies like me the people aren't immune to the whims of shady fascists disguised as real leaders.
Prop 83 was flawed from the beginning anyway -- the GPS tracking BS was bunk to begin with (see Mr. Niemoller's words above), the school/park thing plays on fear rather than reality and the desperate need for more frank discussions in school (and at home) about sex and sexual predators, and it gives a woeful peek into the failures of our probationary system. This proposition also burdens rural areas with more than their share of possible sexual predators. Now they want to change it AFTER it was voted into law? Unbelievable.
Leave it to a reactionary populace to vote this prop in and the Cali government to try to serve up this additional unconstitutional and super shady horseshit after the fact. And I'll bet you most will still say it smells and tastes like strawberries. Goo.

The homeowners association concept leaves me a little queasy, especially since I will soon be under the yoke of one.
Like nightmares emerging from the social subconscious mind, we have sufficient warning in regards to authority based on conformist values. You know, stepford, wrinkle in time, 1984, the borg, even the wizard of OZ.
Anyways, fuckin', people are retarded. I received a whispery little revelation about the ultimate place of people the other day-
In regards to GOD and ALIENS and why they do not contact us.
I was walking through a "normal" day beset with reminders and examples of mankinds general sense of paranoia, prejudice and primal man-eat-man mentality. All encountered while shopping, dining, driving and banking.
Normal stuff.
We are a pack of self-important monkey tearing this world apart. Perhaps survivors of this ongoing wave of mutilation will eventually evolve enough to be granted the presence of GOD or ALIENS, but until then the higher powers are merely watching and shaking their big white heads at the mayhem and injustice of being a homo-sapien.
You know, we all have our biases, but if we know we are biased then we can check ourselves before too much damage is done. Unfortunately many people are unaware of their own biases and how it fucks things up in general.
Anyways, I was going to say something specific and productive.. but fuck it. I'm both tired and yet becoming more accepting that ASSHOLE is the order of the day in our stuck-up ignorant over-hyped and under gracious society.
Myself included. Me is asshole. Me is monkey. Me am human.
Gah, yes, we're all pigs (or monkeys), sipping at the same trough, 'tis true. I hope it's to varying degrees, but I guess in the end what really matters is that we're all pigs whether you eat the shit floating in the trough, or avoid it.
You and Nicole buying a house with a HOA? Or renting?
I'd rather rent forever or live in a one room shack in the boones than take on a 3/2 in a HOA, for real. You are the last person I would imagine jumping into that one! Anyway, fight the power, Craig -- good luck, and don't kill anyone.
