Have not posted about sine qua non longtime love David J for a looooooong time. A lot of that has to do with most current news being about the same old thing -- his two squabbling, broken-up bands, his DJing, his cabaret shows, some (IMO) dodgy projects, etc. I vowed not to post anything until he toured a new album of acoustic ditties; however, am breaking that vow with this:
In this interview David talks about many of the same things he's touched on before -- his detour from football into music, his creative process -- but with a fresh take and a refreshing twist: not once are Bauhaus or Love Rockets mentioned. Plus, it's a high-quality video interview with Drusilla!
Hearing this makes me want that long promised new album and tour all the more. The man's got great ideas, and he can write the hell out of a song. I'm done with the cabaret business though -- be a lone singer/songwriter please, kthxbai.

This is why I sometimes like to ride the bus.
The Obsession With [Oakland] AC Transit Brawler, AKA Epic Beard man, Continues
[Thomas] Bruso, most commonly known now as "Epic Beard Man" (EBM), became an Internet celebrity after video of his fight with a fellow AC Transit bus passenger was posted on YouTube last month. The footage, taken by college student Lyanna Washington, shows Bruso wearing a T-shirt that says "I am a motherf*****" (hence the title of Washington's video).
Now there is a documentary by Nathan Maas.
Bruso, apart from being both questionable and a badass, has quite a life story. Check out parts one and two of the documentary here.
